Days Go By

6 more days till the day of reckoning...

So i was on my uncle's blog today, just checking some things out and realized that I like reading blogs that are a short story. Some long sonnet or soliloquy doesn't necessarily cut it for me. I like the short, uplifting, insightful, positive stories. So here is my snippet for the day:

Around 5:30 I could no longer listen to my stomach moan incessantly by its not having any substance. I walked over to the wilk, opening doors for an older gentleman on the way, and went into the book section. My mind was invigorated by the knowledge that seemed to ooze from the shelves. Remembering my goal, i walked past book case after bookcase. Should i read about Obama's education plan or learn Norwegian? What about reading a children's book? It seemed as though the hunger had moved from my stomach to my cranium. I grabbed a book that was on the sale shelf and began reading it. I read while heating up my delicious pasta that Rachel had made for me. Here is what I read about... Women are different than men. Huh. Interesting. The book began with the author telling of her experiences with a new husband. She spoke of a man's desire to "one-up" another man. She termed this Independence. She then said that women, on the other hand, have a desire to connect, to build networks and share and take in to contribute to others feeling included. She called this desire "Intimacy" For the next hour i just could not get this out of my mind. It was so interesting to me to hear how women think and why they do what they do. For instance women say, "I could really use some things from the Grocery Store, but i am just so exhausted." What they are really asking is, "Honey, will you go to the store." And yet, by their phraseology, they request the task in such a way as to allow for a connection to be made by the husband that acknowledges her feelings and takes note of her desire. This is why women say things how they say things... Intriguing.

I hope you've felt inspired by my writing so now you can know that Women think and say and want things that are different than males. Males just want to feel in control and be sure that they are the top dog. I need to be humble to not want that, and yet it was so interesting to read and just node my head in agreement. Sad, yet true...
I'll do better.

Night, MLH
