Medical School update:
Today I gained insight as to what the process is for admissions at Texas Tech and possibly what I can expect as far as dates go.
I was not denied admissions, that is good. I also have not been accepted October 17th, which is ok. There is a set number of slots that can be filled according to the school's predetermined number (144 last year). October 17th, Texas Tech sent out some invitations/acceptances for the TTUHSC 2012 medical class. As students accept and reject the invitations, there will respectively be spots that are taken and spots that are made open. Accordingly, additional invitations will be made to applicants that did well on their interviews and are acceptable students for acceptance into Texas Tech School of Medicine and will thereby be invited to attend. Louis Perez told me that when those invitations are sent are is very sporadic and so I shouldn't expect them only on a Monday or something to that degree.
Two definite positives: 1) I may be looked at from the admissions committee as an in-state applicant, in some ways, because "Technically" I will be starting Medical school as a "Texas Resident" and that would be more than cool! 2) I was not rejected. Apparently they send out Rejection letters on the 17th as well. That is very important to me to know that I wasn't rejected.
Some people have been asking me what I will do if I do not get in for this year. Well, I know I will get in. Because it is important to have a back-up plan I have still made one. Do the early decision program at Texas Tech next year. That is my back up plan and also included in that plan is to also get a job that I can support my family in the mean time… Much love. - future Dr. Michael Lon Henderson
