I keep thinking about doing a different blog, which seems to be essentially seeking acceptance from people I don't even know. The goal of this pre-med blog is to keep it personal, and inspire aspiring future doctors to keep on keeping on. To begin another blog will take incredible effort, time and dedication. I have all of these abilities, I just don't know if I have the strongest engine, or fuel tank, to take me there.
Questions:
-How many pre-med students are out there chugging through the mud right there seeking higher ground, or at least someone's experienced shoulders to stand on, to get a better view?
-Let's say I start a different blog, something like, "the daily dose: a daily pick-me-up for pre-med students" or the like. Is my motivation to have a bigger blog? Or is my motivation to capture a stronger audience? My personal desire, and I say this with strong conviction, is to lift others at others have lifted me through the aurdous process of seeking acceptance into medical school.
A friend, Steve, was one such individual for me. He applied to some 30 schools, studied for the MCAT over 300 hrs, took classes from specific professors JUST to be the top of the class-organize study groups-and receive a stellar recommendation letter. This guy worked his tail off to get into medical school. What's more is this guy has 4 children, a happy wife, a side job, and is heavily involved in religious groups. The reason I tell you about Steve is he never ceased taking time out of his day to talk to me about my applications and to encourage me. Steve invited me over to his house to show me his binder of interview experiences, secondary letters, and what he wish he had known before and during applications. His time with me was invaluable. I was a better applicant because of that. I hope to get into medical school because of that. Most importantly, I want to help others get into medical school as a sort of, pay-it-forward deal. Honestly, if I had one quiet follower from Fergus Falls Minnesota, or anywhere on this planet, and he/she was encouraged, inspired, and moved by this blog then I will have fulfilled my dream. I want nothing more than to inspire those seeking inspiration, to motivate those craving motivation, and to literally move those with a heart for medicine-- into medical school, and eventually into the medical field.
Amen.
Hey Bro, you're rocking it!! I don't know if you've settled on things or not, but I really liked "The Daily Dose" idea for a daily pick-me-up. Keep up the great work man!
