Job Shadowing: Orthopedic Surgery

Dec. 18th

Still no word from any Medical Schools. It's funny how my inbox seems to get bigger and bigger when I'm hoping for, or anticipating a certain e-mail. In this case I am hoping to receive an acceptance e-mail and therefore all my other e-mail seem to carry little meaning or importance.  Tomorrow morning I will be shadowing Dr. Brindley, an orthopedic surgeon, as he does a total hip revision. I have never seen such an invasive surgery. I hope to be strong headed and strong stomached as I witness cutting and chiseling etc. I look forward to being with Dr. Brindley. I hope he isn't too surprised by seeing me. I asked him on 3 west, where I work, if it would be ok if I job shadowed him. He told me he's in clinics Mon and Wed and in the OR Tues Thurs. I said ok and then scheduled everything on my own. I think it will be just fine that I'm there. If anything it will be fun to get to know him better and see such a routine surgery for this man. I pray it goes well for him.

Don't worry, I will still be updating my A&M interview experience. I just need to get a solid hour or so. I want to write my thoughts completely and accurately.

Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,
-Michael Lon Henderson…future doctor.
